Cedar Solutions Software

Ken Pronovici holds the copyright on all of the Cedar Solutions open source software, which is released under either the GNU General Public License, Version 2 or the Apache License, Version 2.0.

There are two major projects. The first is Cedar Backup, a software project written in Python, with source code hosted at SourceForge. Cedar Backup is designed to manage system backups for a pool of local and remote machines. Daily, weekly and incremental backups are supported, and data can be written to either CD or DVD. There have been over 50 releases since 2002.

The second major project is SantaExchange, a with source code hosted at Google Code. A "Secret Santa" exchange is party where people get together to exchange surprise gifts. The gift assignments are secret, and the gifts are usually fairly small. SantaExchange is a Google Web Toolkit (GWT) web site built on Google App Engine (GAE) using Java. The web site lets users manage a gift exchange and send invitations via email.

Besides these two major projects, the software utilities contains a set of useful utilities that Ken has written over the years. These are variously written in C, Perl, Python, shell, etc.

Ken has also been a Debian GNU/Linux developer since 2003, and continues to actively maintain a number of packages. While Debian users would typically install packages from the official Debian mirrors, pre-release packages and backports are available at cedar-solutions.com. See the Debian software page for more information.
